Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been drawn into fresh broadcasting speculation after Magic Radio presenter Gaby Roslin raised the prospect of the Duchess of Sussex hosting her own programme during Harry’s appearance at the WellChild Awards in London.
The Prince Harry Meghan UK radio offer is not entirely new, but it has gained fresh momentum after Harry publicly agreed to take the idea back to his wife.
Speaking to Roslin at the WellChild Awards on Monday, 21 September, Harry confirmed Meghan remains a fan of the station and appeared receptive when the presenter suggested she could host a programme.
“She does love Magic, that’s true,” Harry said during the exchange, before adding that he could “take this back to her”.
Roslin then floated a more specific idea, a Christmas show for Meghan, turning what began as a light-hearted interview exchange into renewed discussion about whether the Duchess could actually appear on British radio.
As of 23 September 2026, there has been no public announcement confirming that Meghan has accepted a programme, signed a broadcasting deal or agreed to a regular slot.
What makes the latest conversation more significant is that Magic Radio had already approached Meghan’s representatives before Harry’s latest London appearance.
Magic Radio Had Already Made Meghan An Offer
The relationship between Meghan and Magic became public after she discussed the station during the second series of her Netflix programme With Love, Meghan.
While speaking with British fashion presenter Tan France, Meghan described Magic Radio as one of the things she particularly missed about Britain.
That comment quickly reached executives at the station.
At Radiocentre’s Tuning In conference in September 2025, Magic and Absolute Radio content director Paul Sylvester revealed that discussions had taken place with the Sussex team.
Sylvester said at the time that there was an “offer on the table” if Meghan wanted to add radio presenting to her career. Bauer Media later highlighted the proposal while discussing Magic’s wider programming strategy.
That makes Roslin’s conversation with Harry more than an entirely spontaneous celebrity job suggestion. It effectively revives a proposal Magic executives had already publicly acknowledged.
Harry appeared to recognise that connection during Monday’s interview. When Roslin brought Magic management into the conversation, he joked that there would need to be a more serious discussion.
The exchange came during the 2026 WellChild Awards at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London. WellChild confirmed Harry attended for the 16th time and has been the charity’s patron for 18 years.
The radio discussion was a lighter moment during an event primarily focused on seriously ill children, their families and healthcare professionals.
Harry praised WellChild nurses during his Magic interview, highlighting what he described as their exceptional commitment to both children and their wider families.
Could Meghan Markle Actually Present A Magic Radio Show?
There is nothing particularly unusual about Meghan moving into audio broadcasting. Before the latest Magic proposal, she had already accumulated substantial experience working in spoken-word media.
She fronted the Spotify podcast Archetypes in 2022 and later hosted Confessions of a Female Founder in 2025. Her post-royal work has also included television production, lifestyle programming and other commercial media projects.
A radio programme would therefore represent a change of format rather than an entirely new industry. There is also an obvious commercial attraction for Magic.
A Meghan programme would almost certainly generate significant attention well beyond the station’s traditional audience, particularly if it were positioned initially as a limited Christmas special rather than a permanent weekly commitment.
That appears to be why Roslin’s Christmas suggestion could prove significant. A one-off festive programme would allow both sides to test the format without immediately committing Meghan to a long-running radio schedule.
However, media and PR commentators have previously disagreed over whether radio would be the right direction for her.
Celebrity commentator and PR expert Kayley Cornelius argued after the original 2025 offer that radio requires considerable consistency because listeners develop relationships with presenters over repeated broadcasts.
Cornelius described radio as being about “consistency, authenticity and longevity”, arguing that Meghan would have to demonstrate she could sustain a regular project rather than simply benefit from the publicity surrounding its launch.
Her comments were an opinion rather than evidence about Meghan’s intentions, but they highlight the distinction between hosting an occasional celebrity special and committing to a permanent broadcasting job.
Another media perspective came from advertising industry figure Paul Burke, who wrote after the original proposal that Meghan’s potential appointment reflected a wider commercial-radio trend towards using established television and celebrity personalities as presenters.
Burke was critical of that broader trend, arguing that high-profile names can sometimes receive major radio opportunities that would traditionally have gone to broadcasters who developed their careers through smaller stations.
Magic itself has taken a very different position. Sylvester has repeatedly made clear that Meghan would be welcome at the station, making the broadcaster’s interest considerably less speculative than many celebrity career rumours.
Why The Offer Is Getting Attention Again?

Timing is a major reason the story has resurfaced. When Magic first publicly discussed offering Meghan a programme in 2025, she was based primarily in California. The practical circumstances surrounding the Sussexes have since changed substantially.
Harry and Meghan returned to Britain with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet in August 2026, bringing renewed attention to what professional and charitable roles the couple might pursue while spending more time in the UK.
Press Association reporting says their move followed six years spent primarily in the United States. Londoner has previously reported on the wider implications of Harry and Meghan’s UK move, including their children’s schooling, security arrangements and the distinction between their private activities and official royal duties.
The couple remain non-working members of the Royal Family, meaning a commercial broadcasting role would be separate from official duties connected with the monarchy.
That distinction makes Meghan’s future media activity particularly interesting. A Magic programme could give her a highly visible British media presence without suggesting a return to royal service.
It would also connect directly with something Meghan herself publicly identified as part of British life she had missed.
Magic presenters Harriet Scott and Gok Wan have since discussed the couple’s enthusiasm for the station. Scott recalled Harry saying that Meghan loved Magic and described him singing the station’s jingle during their encounter.
The apparent familiarity suggests the original comments were not simply a passing reference made for television.
What Happens Next?
For now, the most important distinction is between an offer and an agreement.
Magic has expressed interest.
Its content director previously confirmed discussions with Meghan’s team.
Gaby Roslin has now raised the proposal directly with Prince Harry.
Harry has said he will take the idea back to Meghan.
What has not happened publicly is equally important: Meghan has not announced that she will host a Christmas programme, Magic has not published a broadcast date, and no regular presenting contract has been confirmed in the latest reporting.
That means reports claiming Meghan already has a new UK radio job would go further than the confirmed information currently supports.
The more accurate position is that an existing Magic Radio offer has been revived publicly, this time with Prince Harry directly involved in the conversation.
Whether the playful suggestion at a London charity event turns into Meghan Markle sitting behind a Magic microphone remains unresolved.
But unlike many rumours surrounding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s next moves, there is at least one unusually concrete element behind this one: Magic Radio really has offered her a show.
