Legally Blonde London: Amber Davies To Lead West End Return At London Coliseum

Legally Blonde is returning to London’s West End in 2027, with Amber Davies reprising the role of Elle Woods for a limited nine-week season at the London Coliseum.

The new Legally Blonde London run will begin on 22 March 2027 and continue until 22 May 2027, following the production’s UK and Ireland tour.

Tickets are already on sale, with the London Coliseum listing prices from £20 including booking fees, subject to availability.

The transfer was announced on Tuesday, 15 September 2026, and will bring Davies back to the London Coliseum after she previously appeared there as Jordan Baker in The Great Gatsby.

It also marks a significant West End return for Legally Blonde. The original London production opened at the Savoy Theatre in 2010 and closed in April 2012, while a separate revival was staged at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in 2022.

The official production describes the forthcoming Coliseum season as the musical’s first West End run in around 15 years.

Amber Davies Returns as Elle Woods

Davies will continue in the central role of Elle Woods after leading the current touring production.

The performer won Love Island in 2017 before establishing a substantial musical-theatre career. Her stage credits include 9 to 5 The Musical, Bring It On, Back to the Future The Musical, Pretty Woman and The Great Gatsby.

Her performance as Jordan Baker in The Great Gatsby at the London Coliseum earned her the WhatsOnStage Award for Best Supporting Performer in a Musical. She was also runner-up on Strictly Come Dancing in 2025.

When her casting as Elle was originally announced by Curve, Davies described the part as “the role of a lifetime”, adding that she was “honoured to be stepping into Elle’s perfect heels.”

Reaction to her performance on tour has included praise from reviewers.

In his February 2026 review of the Leicester production, critic Tom Morley described Davies as “extraordinary in the role”, highlighting the way her performance develops Elle beyond the character’s initially superficial image.

What Is The New Legally Blonde London Production About?

Based on Amanda Brown’s novel and the 2001 film starring Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Coolidge, Legally Blonde: The Musical follows Elle Woods after her boyfriend Warner ends their relationship because he wants someone he considers more serious.

Elle follows him to Harvard Law School, initially hoping to win him back, but gradually discovers that she is far more capable in the courtroom than those around her expect.

The stage musical has a book by Heather Hach, with music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin.

The 2027 London production is directed by Nikolai Foster, Artistic Director of Curve, with choreography by Leah Hill.

Its wider creative team includes musical supervision and additional arrangements by Matt Spencer-Smith, set design by Colin Richmond, costume design by Tom Rogers, lighting by Ben Cracknell and sound design by Adam Fisher.

Foster has also directed productions including Kinky Boots, Grease, The Wizard of Oz and A Chorus Line.

Legally Blonde Has Already Been a Major West End Hit

The musical has considerable history in London.

Its original West End production began previews in December 2009 before officially opening at the Savoy Theatre in January 2010.

At the 2011 Olivier Awards, Legally Blonde won Best New Musical, while Sheridan Smith won Best Actress in a Musical for playing Elle Woods and Jill Halfpenny received the award for Best Performance in a Supporting Role in a Musical.

The Savoy production eventually closed on 7 April 2012 after 974 performances.

London subsequently saw a new interpretation at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in 2022, directed by Lucy Moss and starring Courtney Bowman as Elle.

The forthcoming London Coliseum engagement therefore brings the musical back into a traditional West End theatre after a lengthy absence.

When Is Legally Blonde Playing in London?

The limited season runs from Monday, 22 March until Saturday, 22 May 2027 at the London Coliseum on St Martin’s Lane.

According to the official production schedule, performances are planned for 7.30pm Monday to Saturday, with 2.30pm matinees on Thursdays and Saturdays. Preview performances run from 22 to 29 March.

The production has a listed running time of approximately two hours and 20 minutes, including an interval, and carries an age guidance of 8+.

Davies is scheduled to play Elle at the majority of performances, but the venue has already confirmed that she will not appear at a number of dates during the run.

Audiences booking specifically to see her should therefore check the cast information for their chosen performance before purchasing tickets.

Further London casting, including the alternate performer for Elle Woods, has not yet been fully announced.

London Theatre Calendar Continues to Draw Screen Adaptations

The announcement adds another familiar screen property to London’s major theatre calendar.

Audiences in the capital have increasingly been able to see film and television stories reworked specifically for the stage, including Stranger Things live on stage at the Phoenix Theatre.

For Legally Blonde, however, the London return also carries the weight of an established West End history.

The earlier production became an Olivier-winning success, while the latest staging arrives after touring extensively around the UK and Ireland during 2026.

With Davies returning as Elle Woods and the London Coliseum providing one of the largest stages in the West End, the show is now set for a strictly limited spring 2027 engagement rather than an open-ended run.
