17-Year-Old Ranbir Singh Dies in Southall Ford Mustang Crash as Driver Charged

A 17-year-old boy has died and another man remains seriously injured following a late-night Ford Mustang crash in Southall, with police continuing to appeal for witnesses as they investigate what happened.

Ranbir Singh, 17, was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency services were called to South Road in Southall at 1.04am on Saturday, 19 September 2026.

The Metropolitan Police said the collision involved a single Ford Mustang. Officers attended alongside crews from the London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade, but despite efforts to save Ranbir, he died at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.

A second passenger, a 26-year-old man, suffered serious injuries. In the latest official police update, issued on Monday, 21 September, he remained in hospital and officers said they were awaiting a further update on his condition.

The 20-year-old driver was arrested at the scene. Police have since named him as Sukhveer Singh, of Townsend Road, Southall.

He was charged on Sunday, 20 September with causing death by dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking and dangerous driving, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, and using a vehicle without insurance.

Singh appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 21 September and was remanded in custody. He is due to appear at the Old Bailey on Monday, 19 October 2026. The charges are allegations and the criminal proceedings remain ongoing.

Police Describe Southall Crash as ‘Truly Tragic’

Detective Inspector Fiaz Janjua, a specialist officer with the Metropolitan Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, described the death as devastating.

“This is a truly tragic incident in which a young man has lost his life,” DI Janjua said.

He added that officers’ sympathies were with Ranbir’s family and friends, who are being supported by specially trained officers following the teenager’s death.

DI Janjua said investigators were still working to establish the full sequence of events leading up to the collision despite a man having now been charged.

The investigation is therefore continuing, with detectives particularly interested in what happened before the Ford Mustang crashed and where the vehicle was seen around Southall during the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police have asked anyone who saw the Mustang being driven before the collision to contact them.

Investigators are also looking for footage that could help establish the car’s movements, including recordings from dashcams, mobile phones, CCTV systems and video doorbells.

The Serious Collision Investigation Unit handles some of London’s most severe road incidents, examining evidence that can include witness accounts, vehicle movements and video footage.

Anyone who was in the South Road area shortly before or around 1.04am on 19 September could therefore hold information relevant to the investigation, even if they did not directly witness the collision.

What Is the Latest Update?

As of Tuesday, 22 September 2026, the latest publicly available Metropolitan Police statement confirms that Ranbir Singh died at the scene, the 26-year-old passenger had suffered serious injuries, and Sukhveer Singh had been remanded in custody following his first court appearance.

Reports published since the Met’s statement continue to say the injured passenger remains in hospital. No later official update changing his reported condition was identified at the time of publication.

The case has also attracted coverage beyond London after Ranbir’s identity was confirmed, but the Met’s statement remains the primary source for the circumstances currently established by investigators.

Police have not publicly set out the precise cause or sequence of the crash, and those circumstances remain subject to the ongoing investigation and court proceedings.
