Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are once again attracting attention over claims of tension in their relationship, just weeks after returning to Britain with their two children. Speculation about a possible Harry and Meghan fight has emerged alongside fresh disagreements involving Buckingham Palace, Prince William and the couple’s position within the monarchy.

However, while royal commentators have raised questions about the Sussexes’ relationship, there is no verified evidence that Harry and Meghan have recently had a serious marital argument or that their marriage is in crisis.

The latest developments instead reveal a complicated picture of public scrutiny, unresolved royal disagreements and the couple’s attempts to establish a new life in Britain.

On 20 October, Prince Harry gave his clearest indication yet that he wanted to move beyond years of family conflict. Speaking in an interview with GQ magazine, the Duke of Sussex discussed his relationship with his father, King Charles, and brother, Prince William, while acknowledging how difficult repairing broken family relationships can be.

His comments arrived only days after he and Meghan appeared together in Nottingham on 15 October, where their joint charity visits prompted renewed debate about whether the Sussexes were attempting to recreate the public-facing royal role they relinquished in 2020.

Are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Really Fighting?

Questions about Harry and Meghan’s relationship intensified after body language specialist Inbaal Honigman examined photographs of the couple visiting a Cotswolds pub earlier in October.

Speaking to the Daily Express in comments published on 6 October, Honigman suggested the couple appeared to display contrasting physical gestures during their outing.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex display very different body language cues,” Honigman said.

She suggested their movements could indicate different priorities or possible tension, although her interpretation was based on the couple’s public behaviour rather than direct knowledge of their private relationship.

Such assessments remain subjective. Photographs and brief public interactions cannot establish whether a couple has argued or is experiencing serious relationship difficulties.

Indeed, the Sussexes’ subsequent Nottingham appearance offered a contrasting picture.

During their 15 October visit, Harry and Meghan greeted supporters, posed for photographs, embraced members of the public and appeared affectionate towards each other.

According to ITV News, Harry placed a hand on Meghan’s back during their visit, while the couple also put their arms around one another.

At the Epic Partners youth charity, Meghan enthusiastically celebrated as Harry completed a game of pool. They also helped decorate birthday cupcakes, with Meghan laughing as Harry struggled with the icing.

The interactions do not establish what happens privately, but they demonstrate why claims of a marital fight should not be presented as confirmed news.

For the couple, the latest speculation comes at a sensitive time as they adjust to life in Britain after six years in California.

Their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, have begun attending school in the UK, while Harry continues his charitable commitments and Meghan pursues her commercial and creative interests.

Those separate professional priorities have also attracted commentary, although pursuing different projects does not itself indicate a disagreement between them.

Harry’s Fresh Comments Bring Royal Family Dispute Back Into Spotlight

The more substantial conflict concerns Harry’s relationship with the wider royal family.

In his GQ interview, recorded in New York in September and released on 20 October, Harry spoke openly about his hopes for reconciliation.

“And some people don’t want it to work out. I want it to work out,” he said.

The statement immediately attracted attention because of his longstanding estrangement from Prince William.

However, a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess subsequently clarified that Harry’s remarks were not directed at his brother or any other particular relative.

Harry also emphasised that reconciliation remained important to him despite the difficulties of the past.

The comments marked another public attempt by the Duke to explain his perspective on family conflict following years of disagreements involving his autobiography Spare, the couple’s interviews about royal life and their departure from official duties.

Relations between Harry and King Charles have shown signs of improvement, particularly following family contact earlier this year.

His relationship with William, however, remains considerably more difficult.

Reports published on 22 October suggested the Prince of Wales remained reluctant to rebuild the relationship, although these assessments relied on unnamed sources rather than a new public statement from William.

The uncertainty leaves Harry’s reconciliation ambitions facing a significant obstacle.

There is also an important distinction between wanting to end a dispute and securing agreement from everyone involved.

Harry has publicly indicated a willingness to move forward, but Buckingham Palace and Prince William have not announced any comprehensive resolution of the family’s disagreements.

Royal Expert Questions Harry and Meghan’s Nottingham Appearance

Another source of tension has been the couple’s decision to conduct public charity engagements after returning to the UK.

Their Nottingham visit resembled the traditional walkabouts undertaken by working members of the royal family, despite Harry and Meghan no longer representing the monarchy officially.

Former royal editor Duncan Larcombe questioned how the appearance might be received by Prince William.

Speaking to OK! magazine in comments published on 22 October, Larcombe said:

“It looked exactly like a royal walkabout.”

He suggested William could be frustrated by the similarities between the Sussexes’ appearance and official royal engagements.

However, Larcombe’s comments reflect his interpretation of the situation, not a verified account of William’s private reaction.

The distinction matters because King Charles had already authorised a letter in September clarifying the Sussexes’ status.

The communication reiterated that Harry and Meghan remain non-working members of the royal family and undertake their activities as private citizens rather than representatives of the Crown.

For Harry and Meghan, that position does not prevent them from participating in charitable activities or supporting organisations with which they have longstanding relationships.

Their Nottingham itinerary included the Community Recording Studio, Himmah Hub and Epic Partners, organisations involved in supporting young people, tackling poverty and strengthening local communities.

Meghan also reunited with women from the Hubb Community Kitchen, whom she had supported through a cookbook initiative following the Grenfell Tower fire.

During the visit, she told a member of the public: “Oh it’s great to be back.”

The appearance therefore served two purposes: reconnecting with causes the couple had previously supported and demonstrating their continued interest in public-facing charitable work.

Yet it also highlighted the unresolved question of how two internationally recognised members of the royal family can pursue prominent public engagements without representing the monarchy.

The answer remains politically and institutionally sensitive, particularly while the Sussexes’ security arrangements are under review.

Security Concerns Continue to Complicate Their Return

The dispute over security is another major issue surrounding Harry and Meghan’s return to Britain.

Harry has long argued that his family requires appropriate protection because of their public profile and security risks.

His previous legal challenges over protection arrangements became one of the defining disagreements surrounding his relationship with the British establishment.

Following the Sussexes’ relocation in August, their security arrangements again came under scrutiny, including concerns about their children’s journey to school.

The couple have relied on private security during public appearances while questions remain over the level of police protection available to them.

Unlike reports of personal disagreements between Harry and Meghan, these security issues have involved documented public proceedings, official decisions and statements.

The distinction helps explain why the phrase “Harry and Meghan fight” can refer to several different disputes rather than a single confirmed incident.

For some commentators, it concerns the couple’s relationship with the monarchy. For others, it refers to Harry’s continuing disagreements over protection or speculation surrounding the Sussexes’ marriage.

None of those matters should automatically be treated as evidence that the couple are fighting with each other.

What Happens Next for Harry and Meghan?

Harry and Meghan’s return to Britain has reopened questions that appeared largely settled when they established their lives in California in 2020.

They now face the challenge of maintaining independent careers while remaining closely associated with an institution whose official duties they no longer perform.

For Harry, rebuilding relationships with his father and brother remains a stated personal ambition.

For Meghan, the focus appears to be balancing family responsibilities, business interests and selective charitable appearances.

Their different professional activities may create practical challenges, but there is currently no reliable confirmation that these have caused a major marital dispute.

The most significant development is Harry’s increasingly public willingness to discuss reconciliation.

His GQ interview suggested he wants to leave past disagreements behind rather than continue responding to every controversy surrounding his family.

Whether that approach produces a lasting improvement in royal relationships remains uncertain.

For now, the latest Harry and Meghan fight headlines reveal more about the continuing tensions surrounding the couple’s royal status and public image than about any confirmed breakdown in their marriage.

Their recent joint appearances demonstrate that they are continuing to work together publicly, while their relationship with the wider royal family remains unresolved.

As the Sussexes establish their new life in Britain, the question is increasingly whether Harry can secure the reconciliation he wants without reigniting the disputes that contributed to his departure six years ago.
